I was trained never to say this, but I think that group may be untutorable.

If a tree falls in the woods…
I have a grand total of four followers on tumblr, two of which are random people looking to publicize themselves. The other two are friends of mine, but only one of them actively uses their tumblr. So that means that one single person actually reads, sees, and observes what I post and reblog. (Hi-five to Rachel if she actually reads this!)
I was mulling over this predicament, and I thought of the old adage “If a tree falls in the woods, and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?” I’m guessing that you can already imagine where I am going with this thought. If I post something, but no one is there to see it, does it actually make an impact? This thought troubles me. I realize that I’m just reblogging Community GIFs and comic book covers and other unimportant things that people probably don’t care about, yet it still bothers me. Why should I post content if no one actually sees it? The main purpose of a tumblr (in my somewhat humble opinion) is to see a live feed of things that interest you, but it is also used to show people who are interested in you what you’re all about; it’s used to show people who you are and what makes you tick.
A tumblog (is this a legit term?) in its most basic form is a blog. A blog is a way to spread your message and your personal brand to others. But what if no one reads the blog? Do you continue to blog away with the hope that someone will read it? Or do you just toss in the towel and look for other ways to express yourself? I know this sounds like a desperate plea to garner followers, but it’s a serious question. What’s the point of posting things if no one will ever read them?

I just asked my cab driver how to say “White Castle” in Spanish
He said “Casablanca.”
And my heart broke into a million pieces.
